Sydney Airport Hotels

After Qantas cancelled our booked flight to San Francisco the code-share operator American Airlines re-booked the tickets on a flight earlier on the same day.

To avoid a complicated start to the day I booked a room at the Sydney Airport Travelodge. The price was better than any of the alternatives at the time of booking, but when looking up the hotel on the day I found the same room now cost $20+ less, and other hotels were also offering lower rates. So booking far ahead does not always pay!

I also had not looked into getting to the hotel from the International Terminal – where the coach from Canberra stopped, and back again. There is a shuttle bus, but it’s not free and erodes the price advantage of the Travelodge compared to the Airport Hyatt which is a short walk from the International Terminal.

So, the pricier hotel may have been the lower cost option..
